The European Honda Accord (eighth and ninth generations) offered 2.0-litre i-VTEC petrol (155-156 hp), 2.4-litre i-VTEC petrol (188-201 hp), and 2.2-litre i-DTEC diesel engines (150-180 hp). The 2.2 diesel was the most popular choice in Portugal, offering strong torque for motorway cruising. Honda discontinued the Accord in Europe after 2015, making all available units pre-owned.

On diesel models, verify the DPF system status and ensure the timing chain has been inspected at recommended intervals. Check the front suspension wishbone bushings, which can wear around 120,000 km, causing vague steering feel. The 2.0 petrol is virtually bulletproof mechanically, but inspect the air conditioning compressor and verify all electrical accessories function correctly on older examples.

The 2.2 i-DTEC diesel Accord achieves approximately 5.5-6.5 L/100km in mixed driving, excellent for a D-segment saloon of its era. The 2.0 i-VTEC petrol returns around 7.5-8.5 L/100km in mixed conditions. Highway fuel consumption is a particular strength of the diesel, dropping below 5.0 L/100km at steady motorway speeds on Portuguese highways.
