Toyota C-HR+ in Portugal: Price, Range and Specs of Toyota's New EV

Toyota C-HR+ Portugal Price: 607 km Range, 1M km Warranty

Toyota's best-seller now comes fully electric

607 km of WLTP range, 150 kW DC fast charging, and a battery warranty that can stretch to a million kilometres. The Toyota C-HR+ has landed in Portugal this year, and it marks a shift for the brand — for the first time, the C-HR name is available without a drop of petrol involved.

Despite the name, the C-HR+ isn't an electric version of the C-HR hybrid. It's a brand-new model, built on the eTNGA platform shared with the bZ4X, and it's now Toyota's longest-range BEV in Europe. First deliveries started in March 2026, and the entry price in Germany sits at €38,990.

Toyota C-HR+ specs: two batteries, three powertrains

Toyota kept the lineup straightforward: two battery sizes and three power outputs, all wearing the same 4.53-metre body.

That 607 km figure makes the C-HR+ the longest-range Toyota EV on sale in Europe. For context, it's more than a Tesla Model Y RWD claims under WLTP. Lisboa to Porto becomes a single fast-charging stop, even in winter.

The battery comes from PPES, the Toyota–Panasonic joint venture, and rated consumption falls between 13.4 and 15.5 kWh/100 km — competitive for the class.

Charging: 150 kW DC and pre-conditioning

Peak DC charging now climbs to 150 kW, with a 10–80% top-up done in 28 minutes. It's not the highest peak in the segment, but the curve stays steady, and battery pre-conditioning holds those times even at -10°C — useful if you ever take the car north into proper cold.

AC charging is 11 kW as standard; the High trim bumps it to 22 kW, handy if you have three-phase at home or run the car for a business.

Toyota C-HR+ Portugal price: what to expect

No official Portuguese price is published yet, so estimates have to anchor to the German and UK lists. Germany starts at €38,990. The UK ranges from £34,495 to £41,900 across the Icon, Design, and Excel trims.

Based on Toyota Portugal's usual positioning versus Germany — and the fact that BEVs are ISV-exempt here (ISV is the Portuguese vehicle registration tax) — entry pricing should land somewhere around €39,000–€42,000 for the 57.7 kWh version, rising to roughly €48,000–€52,000 for the top 77 kWh AWD. Worth confirming with a dealer once stock lands; Toyota Portugal rarely publishes lists before deliveries are underway.

ISV exemption remains the headline tax break for BEVs in Portugal, and annual IUC road tax stays minimal compared with a petrol equivalent. For companies, the C-HR+ slots into the familiar logic: no extra "tributação autónoma" penalty, and full VAT recovery in most cases.

Toyota C-HR+ vs Kia EV3, Hyundai Kona Electric and Renault Scenic

This is where it gets interesting. The C-HR+ enters a segment already well stocked, and Toyota has to convince buyers who have solid alternatives:

  • Kia EV3 — smaller, cheaper (from around €36,000 in Portugal), with an interior most UK reviewers rate as more modern. Lower DC charging peak (up to 128 kW).
  • Hyundai Kona Electric — long-time segment benchmark, up to 514 km on the 65 kWh version, priced from about €37,000.
  • Renault Scenic E-Tech — bigger boot (545 L vs the C-HR+'s 416 L), up to 625 km in Long Range trim, built in France.
  • Skoda Elroq — VW Group alternative, judged to have a more "European" driving character by UK media.

The C-HR+ plays two cards. First, the 607 km headline range. Second — and possibly more powerful — the warranty. Toyota offers 8 years / 160,000 km on the EV drivetrain, plus a Battery Care Program that stretches to 10 years or 1 million kilometres, provided the owner does the annual EV Health Check. Capacity is guaranteed at 70% or above. No rival comes close to that.

UK press gave it 8/10, praising efficiency (potentially 5.0 mi/kWh, around 3.1 km/kWh) and range, but criticising the boot (416 L is smaller than the Elroq, Scenic, and EV3) and a driving character they called "subdued" — comfortable, yes, but not exciting.

Dimensions, space and equipment

At 4,530 mm long, 1,870 mm wide, and 1,595 mm tall, the C-HR+ is slightly larger than the C-HR hybrid. A generous 2,750 mm wheelbase opens up rear-seat space, and 185 mm of ground clearance gives it some unpaved-road ability. The 0.262 drag coefficient helps justify the range figures.

Boot capacity is 416 L (VDA) — fine for daily use and weekends away, but clearly behind the bigger rivals. If load space is a priority, the Scenic E-Tech or Skoda Elroq are better picks.

Inside, the 14-inch central screen is standard across the range, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 7-inch digital cluster, 64-colour ambient lighting, and two wireless phone chargers are solid features. Top trim adds a 9-speaker, 800 W JBL system and an optional panoramic roof.

The 343 hp AWD dual-motor version tows up to 1,500 kg — unusual in a BEV of this class — and does 0-100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. For a family electric SUV, that's more than enough.

Frequently Asked Questions

No official Portuguese list price is published yet, but a reasonable estimate is €39,000–€42,000 for the 57.7 kWh FWD version, rising to €48,000–€52,000 for the 77 kWh AWD dual-motor. The anchors are Germany's €38,990 entry price and the UK range of £34,495–£41,900. As a BEV, the C-HR+ is ISV-exempt and pays minimal annual IUC, which helps keep the Portuguese price close to the German benchmark.

Despite the shared name, they are different cars. The C-HR hybrid uses the TNGA-C platform with hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains. The C-HR+ is a fully electric model built on the eTNGA platform (the same as the bZ4X), measures 4,530 mm (slightly larger), uses 57.7 or 77 kWh batteries, and offers up to 607 km of WLTP range. The C-HR+ is Toyota's longest-range BEV in Europe.

The 607 km figure is WLTP for the 77 kWh FWD version on 18" wheels. In real-world driving, expect 480–540 km in mixed use and around 400 km on the motorway at 120 km/h in winter. Rated consumption sits between 13.4 and 15.5 kWh/100 km, and UK press recorded efficiencies of up to 5.0 mi/kWh (~3.1 km/kWh), which makes the claimed range one of the more achievable in the segment.

The Kia EV3 starts at around €36,000 in Portugal with a more modern interior per UK reviewers, but charges only up to 128 kW DC. The Kona Electric starts at around €37,000 and offers up to 514 km WLTP on the 65 kWh battery. The C-HR+ counters with 607 km of range, 150 kW DC charging and — its strongest card — a battery warranty stretching to 10 years or 1 million kilometres, which no rival matches.

On DC fast charging, the C-HR+ accepts up to 150 kW and completes a 10–80% top-up in 28 minutes. Battery pre-conditioning maintains those times even at -10°C. On AC, the car charges at 11 kW as standard (a full charge of the 77 kWh battery takes around 8 hours) or 22 kW on the High trim — useful if you have three-phase power at home or run the car for a business.

Is it worth waiting for the C-HR+ in Portugal?

It depends on what you want. If the priorities are best-in-class warranty, real-world range above 500 km, and Toyota reliability, the C-HR+ has arguments that are hard to match. If you want the most modern cabin or the most boot space for the money, rivals do better.

The whole pitch hinges on Portuguese pricing. If Toyota lands the 57.7 kWh version below €40,000 before promotions, it sits directly against the Kona Electric and EV3. Above that, the argument shifts — and buyers will weigh a one-million-kilometre warranty against the Scenic's 545 L boot.

Worth keeping an eye on Toyota Portugal's announcements over the coming weeks, especially around stock availability and any launch promotions.
