€70,900. That's what the new BMW iX4 costs in Germany as a 40 xDrive, the entry version. The electric SUV coupé is the third Neue Klasse model after the iX3 and the i3, and it reaches dealers in March 2027. If you're looking for the BMW iX4 price in Portugal, you'll have to wait a little longer: BMW Portugal hasn't published its national price list yet.
What we already know is enough to see where the car sits. The iX4 slots between the iX3 and the upcoming iX5, promises up to 828 km of WLTP range and charges at 400 kW on an 800-volt architecture. It also costs exactly €5,000 more than the equivalent iX3, and that gap is the first thing worth thinking about.
There are three versions for now, all with xDrive all-wheel drive and one motor per axle: an electrically excited synchronous motor (EESM) at the rear and an asynchronous motor (ASM) at the front. The M Sport package is standard across the range, with 20-inch wheels and M Sport brakes with blue calipers.
| Version | Power | Torque | 0–100 km/h | Top speed | Price in Germany |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| iX4 40 xDrive | 275 kW (374 hp) | 520 Nm | 5.6 s | 210 km/h | from €70,900 |
| iX4 50 xDrive | 345 kW (469 hp) | 645 Nm | 4.9 s | 210 km/h | from €75,900 |
| iX4 M60 xDrive | 450 kW (612 hp) | 875 Nm | 3.9 s | 240 km/h (limited) | to be announced |
The prices in the table are German, including Germany's 19% VAT. The 40 and 50 xDrive go on sale in March 2027. The M60 xDrive follows shortly after, with orders opening from January 2027 according to electrive, and its price hasn't been revealed.
The M60 is the one for drivers who want serious performance. It has 612 hp, hits 100 km/h in 3.9 s and gets electronically controlled adaptive M suspension, an M limited-slip rear differential and 21-inch wheels (22-inch optional). Electrically adjustable M Sport seats with massage come as standard. Price? Not even confirmed in Germany, but expect it to land well above the 50 xDrive's €75,900.
The headline figure is the 828 km WLTP of the iX4 50 xDrive. A Lisbon–Porto run of around 300 km is done without stopping and with plenty to spare, even allowing for the extra consumption at motorway speeds.
| Version | Battery (usable) | WLTP range | Max DC charging | Range added in 10 min DC |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| iX4 40 xDrive | 82.6 kWh | up to 638 km | 300 kW | about 301 km |
| iX4 50 xDrive | 108.7 kWh | up to 828 km | 400 kW | up to 387 km |
| iX4 M60 xDrive | 108.7 kWh | up to 777 km | 400 kW | up to 360 km |
The WLTP figures are provisional and apply to the German market. Both batteries charge from 10 to 80% in 21 minutes.
Ten minutes on a compatible fast charger adds up to 387 km to the 50 xDrive. That's a coffee and toilet stop at a service area. The catch is the network: most fast chargers on MOBI.E, Portugal's national public charging network, don't reach 400 kW, so you'll only see the peak at the high-power stations gradually appearing along the motorways. Even at lower power, the 800-volt architecture helps keep stops short.
At home, AC charging is 11 kW as standard, with 22 kW optional. The iX4 also supports V2L, V2H and V2G bidirectional charging, meaning it can power devices, your house, or feed energy back to the grid where that's allowed.
Plenty of English-language coverage quotes 428 miles of range and a 112.2 kWh battery. Those are North American numbers: the usable capacity BMW states for the US and Canada, and a preliminary estimate still pending EPA certification. The $66,200 price is also US-only, before destination. For Portugal, the European WLTP figures in the table above are the ones that count.

BMW says the Gen6 drive units lose 40% less energy, weigh 10% less and cost 20% less to make than the previous generation. That explains much of the efficiency: the 50 xDrive goes further than the iX3 50 xDrive on the same battery.
Inside, BMW Panoramic iDrive with Operating System X combines Panoramic Vision (a strip of information projected across the full width of the base of the windscreen), a 17.9-inch central display and an optional 3D head-up display. The glass panoramic roof is standard. There are three interior designs and seven upholstery options, from Veganza up to BMW Individual. The rear seats fold 40:20:40.

BMW hasn't officially confirmed the boot capacity for the European market yet. Expect it to be slightly smaller than the iX3's, given the sloping roofline.
BMW's German price ladder is simple: i3 saloon, iX3 SUV, iX4 SUV coupé, with €5,000 between each step.
| Model | Battery | WLTP range | Price in Germany |
|---|---|---|---|
| i3 50 xDrive | 108.7 kWh | up to 912 km | €65,900 |
| iX3 50 xDrive | 108.7 kWh | up to 805 km | €70,900 |
| iX4 50 xDrive | 108.7 kWh | up to 828 km | €75,900 |
Motors and cells are shared. What the extra €5,000 buys is the coupé silhouette, standard M Sport trim and around 23 km more range thanks to the aerodynamics. If boot space and rear headroom matter more to you, the iX3 remains the rational choice. And the i3 saloon, at 912 km, is the range champion of the family.
electrive places the iX4 between the Audi Q6 Sportback e-tron and the Porsche Macan Electric. It's a logical middle ground: sportier in image than the Audi, more affordable than the Porsche, and with strong technical arguments such as 828 km WLTP and 400 kW charging. If you're weighing the BMW iX4 against the Porsche Macan Electric, it comes down to the Porsche's badge and handling versus the BMW's range and price. Before deciding, it's worth waiting for Portuguese prices on both and the first road tests.
Without an official price, the iX3 is the best clue. On the Portuguese price list, the iX3 40 xDrive starts at €64,500, against €65,900 in Germany, even though Portuguese VAT (IVA, 23%) is higher than Germany's (19%). If BMW keeps the same €5,000 gap in Portugal, the iX4 40 xDrive should land around €69,500. That's our estimate, not an official price.
A few numbers that matter to a buyer in Portugal:
The European launch is set for March 2027 with the 40 xDrive and 50 xDrive. Some sources mentioned November 2026, but BMW points to March 2027. The M60 xDrive follows shortly after in a staged rollout. Orders and Portuguese prices should appear in the months before.
BMW Portugal has not published an official price yet. In Germany, the iX4 40 xDrive starts at €70,900 and the 50 xDrive at €75,900, including German VAT of 19%. Since the iX3 40 xDrive costs €64,500 in Portugal versus €65,900 in Germany, and the iX4 is €5,000 more than the equivalent iX3, we estimate the iX4 40 xDrive at around €69,500 in Portugal. This is our estimate, not an official price.
The 40 xDrive has 275 kW (374 hp), an 82.6 kWh usable battery, up to 638 km WLTP range and DC charging up to 300 kW. The 50 xDrive steps up to 345 kW (469 hp), a 108.7 kWh battery, up to 828 km WLTP and 400 kW DC, and does 0–100 km/h in 4.9 s instead of 5.6 s. In Germany, the price gap between the two is €5,000 (€70,900 versus €75,900).
On a DC fast charger, both batteries go from 10 to 80% in about 21 minutes, and the 50 xDrive adds up to 387 km in 10 minutes at 400 kW. At home, using the standard 11 kW AC charger, a full charge of the 108.7 kWh battery takes around 10 hours and the 82.6 kWh battery around 7.5 hours (our estimate). The optional 22 kW AC charger roughly halves that time at charge points that support it.
Yes. In Germany, each iX4 version costs €5,000 more than the equivalent iX3: the iX3 50 xDrive is €70,900 and the iX4 50 xDrive is €75,900. The motors and 108.7 kWh battery are the same, but the iX4 comes with the M Sport package as standard and reaches 828 km WLTP, 23 km more than the iX3 50 xDrive's 805 km.
The European launch is set for March 2027 with the 40 xDrive and 50 xDrive versions. The M60 xDrive, with 612 hp and up to 777 km WLTP, follows shortly after in a phased rollout, with orders opening from January 2027 according to electrive. Portuguese prices and local orders are expected to be announced in the months before launch.
If you're after a premium electric SUV coupé and a replacement for the combustion BMW X4, the iX4 50 xDrive looks like the best-balanced version: 469 hp, 828 km WLTP and 387 km added in 10 minutes, for €75,900 in Germany. The 40 xDrive makes sense if you mostly drive in town and want to stay closer to the company-car tax thresholds. The fairest criticism comes from the US press: in pure performance terms the iX4 isn't groundbreaking, and the styling won't please everyone. Before ordering, compare the Portuguese price with the equivalent iX3 once both are listed. If the gap really is €5,000, decide whether the coupé shape is worth that money to you.
